IDC is a patent house that is in the "Greenmail" business. Q sued them early on and, in an out of court settlement, knocked them out of using Qualcomm's CDMA.

These people, along with some European allies hoping to leverage Q, are making noises, and the stock has run up in sympathy to Qualcomm, but IDC has no claim and is going nowhere.

As Qualcomm becomes more dominant on the world scene, you are going to see a lot of claims and lawsuits. One of the reasons for Dr J's huge warchest is to have the money to fight these people and prevail.

If you want to get a layman's understanding of Qualcomm, go to this URL and read Gregg Powers posts. He is the best expert we have on this subject, but, alas, he no longer posts. He got tired of suffering the fools.
