PaineWebber's private client group adds AMR, Microsoft,
and Pepsico to its focus list

NEW YORK-April 24, 1997--The Private Client Group (PCG), the retail
division of PaineWebber Inc., announced today that it has added AMR Corp , Microsoft Corp and Pepsico Inc to its group of stocks known as the PaineWebber Focus List.

Designed to maximize potential returns and minimize losses, the Focus List is a dynamic, theoretical portfolio of no more than 30 carefully selected stocks. Although derived from those stocks rated buy
or attractive by PaineWebber Research, the Focus List itself is developed by a committee made up primarily of senior PaineWebber PCG professionals who employ stringent selection criteria based
on fundamental, quantitative and technical analysis. A stock is removed from the list when one of two things happens: the PaineWebber analyst downgrades the stock, or the proprietary Stop-Loss
discipline developed by the Focus List committee indicates that the price threshold has been violated.

AMR Corp., based in Ft. Worth, Texas, the holding company for American Airlines, is comprised of three major lines of business: the Air Transportation Group, the SABRE Group and the AMR Management Services. The company reported 1996 revenues of $17.8 billion and earnings of $9.43 per share (excluding charges). For 1997 PaineWebber forecasts earnings will be $9.50 per share.

Microsoft Corp., based in Redmond, Wash., produces a wide range of software products, including operating systems, business and consumer applications, development tools, and on-line software products. The company reported 1996 revenues of $8.7 billion and earnings of $1.71 per share. For 1997 PaineWebber forecasts earnings will be $2.62 per share.

PepsiCo, Inc., based in Purchase, New York, is one of the largest consumer products and services companies in the world. The company reported 1996 revenues of $31.6 billion and earnings of $1.17 per share. For 1997 PaineWebber forecasts earnings will be $1.47 per share.

A complete list of stocks on the Focus List and additional information about those stocks can be obtained by contacting any investment executive at any PaineWebber office.

PaineWebber Incorporated is a unit of PaineWebber Group Inc., which serves the investment and capital needs of a worldwide client base. The firm employs 15,910 in 300 offices.
