"However, the
wireless field is crowded, and betting on the outcomes of legal and standards battles is
always a crapshoot."

this is not balanced. he doesn't name the players. had he knowledge of the ongoing processes at the ITU relative to relegating the third generation standard, he'd not be repeating such silly analysis. he obviously doesn't know the 3g standard, who the major players, and from where they're getting their technology. he doesn't realize the role that both IDC's technology and their management has been serving in this arena.

3g standards is not a crap shoot. the standards and the IPR that makes up the standards are being put into writing.

a crap shoot involves dice and uncertain future. Standards and IPR put into writing by a world governing body, with companies designating the percent paid for each essential IPR applied is not a crap shoot. it is a matter of applying the percent made by IDC to all 3g sales per category worldwide.

he has possibly been visiting las vegas one too many times and not attending meetings.

the 14 CDMA patents is complete idiotic statement. IDC applied for 39 CDMA patents in the US alone last year. these patents explain separately verifiable pieces of technology.

where did he come up with 14? you call this balanced too? the article, as ususal, is a well written piece of uninformed literature.

the proof will be in the pudding and future earnings, not from a poorly run AMEX or daily fluctuating stock prices. we receive more proof of this daily
