PTC Announces Pro/MECHANICA Fatigue Advisor; Durability Prediction and Optimization Tool Improves Total Product Confidence

WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 26, 2000--Parametric Technology Corporation (NASDAQ:PMTC) today announced the release of a new simulation tool, Pro/MECHANICA Fatigue Advisor. Pro/MECHANICA Fatigue Advisor allows engineers to predict and optimize the durability of structural components entirely within the Pro/ENGINEER product development environment. Pro/MECHANICA is a part of the PTC i-Series mechanical design automation (MDA) suite of products.

Following a competitive review, PTC selected UK-based nCode (www.ncode.co.uk) International as technology partners for the development of this new product. nCode has a reputation as a world leader in durability simulation and assessment especially within the European and US automotive industry.

"PTC provides a complete product line to support a truly flexible engineering environment" commented Jim Baum, executive vice president of engineering, research and development for PTC. "A crucial element of an effective flexible engineering philosophy is the ability to provide total product confidence by simulating and optimizing design performance and efficiency. Fatigue Advisor will allow engineers to build-in product confidence and lifecycle validation early in the design process."

"Our agreement with PTC gives us broad, worldwide exposure for nCode's industry leading durability technology," says Brian Dabell, chairman of nCode. "The combination of Pro/MECHANICA's capability for high fidelity modeling and simulation of structural components together with nCode's fatigue technology expertise means that durability assessment and improvement can now be considered early in the design process where the cost of change is low and opportunity for change is greatest."

Pro/MECHANICA Fatigue Advisor is expected to ship to customers in March 2000.
