TG,

Let me start with the low hanging fruit here.

You earlier said:

By the way, NT enterprise business was down 5% this quarter supposedly due to Y2K delays.

Now you say:

"LU can't cut it there, and now NT is losing market share. This is excellent news for CSCO!" is typically shallow of you Gary
when discussing business issues. How do YOU know NT is losing market share? If you read my post properly, I was speculating that NT's
enterprise business went down due to Y2K issues. NT conference call made no mention of Enterprise business being eroded due to CSCO.

So, it would appear that I shouldn't listen to what you say at all... since if I read your post and assume it is factual and it is not then you'll use that as an opening to make a personal attack and to suggest that I misread your post. You said the business was off (I made no mention as to why...so your speculation about y2k has no bering). How can you take a statement like the one you made and assume it was speculation... seems pretty sure to me. The only speculation was the Y2K issue...which again I made no mention of.

Second point, NT closed at 108 7/8 according to YHOO - that I suppose includes afterhours action. I think we should split the difference between the 102 1/4 daytime close and the 108 7/8 after hours close...call it 105 1/2. Cisco closed at 112 1/8 in after hours.... Let's call it the end of 2000. We'll see who has better valuation growth. What shall we wager?

Third point, 4 years ago CSCO wasn't even a blip on NT's map. Now there one of two main competitors (according to Roth). I would postulate that CSCO is having success or NT wouldn't consider them a competitor - and in fact they weren't until CSCO declared war in the telecom market. It's true CSCO does do a fair amount of business in the router market but if you did your dd you'd know they also sell a couple of other products too <ggg>. You made a statement ealier that CSCO generates...what was it you said.... 85% of their revenue from Enterprise?... perhaps you should double check your numbers and look at past earnings reports discussing CSCO's penetration into the carrier market - Roth is right to talk about CSCO as a key competitor. It's clear that more dd is in order fo you telecomguy. It's pretty apparent that NT understands what you do not.

Third, Take a look at the books of both companies. I think you would serve yourself well to listen to what briand has told you. You may want to seek guidance from Chuzzlewit or Mr. Fun.

Fourth, Didn't you find it odd that NT is losing market share in the enterprise yet growing their edge business? Must be consumer business - taking candy from a baby (3COM). A low margin business no less......... integrate that into your thinking as you investigate the books.

Fifth, Telecomguy, in the last 4 or 5 posts to me each has contained a personal attack. If you can not refrain from having a conversation with someone else that has a difference of opinion with out making a personal attack then perhaps you should go back to the NT thread where everyone will agree with you. If you want to discuss issues with me please keep it an adult conversation. Otherwise, as I said you once before this conversation is over.
