Eli Lilly and Company Selects Commerce One for Business-to-Business Electronic Commerce
WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 26, 2000--Commerce One, Inc. (NASDAQ:CMRC - news), the leader in global e-commerce solutions for business, today announced that Eli Lilly and Company has chosen the Commerce One Solution to automate purchasing of goods and services throughout the company. The Commerce One Solution, comprising MarketSite(TM) and BuySite(TM), is designed to streamline Lilly's purchasing process, reduce operational costs and support strategic sourcing initiatives with preferred suppliers. Initial implementations will be at sites in the United States and United Kingdom.

The Commerce One BuySite(TM) e-procurement application, which automates the internal procurement process from requisition through order, and Commerce One MarketSite(TM) business-to-business marketplace portal for transacting with suppliers, are designed to help Lilly employees access on-line supplier catalogs and submit orders for products and services. By automating the procurement process, Lilly expects to reduce purchasing costs and increase operational efficiency.
