Yes, I've been following SUNW's counter-moves for the past year. The first move happened last year when they made Solaris x86 "free" (I ordered it for a nominal $20 media and shipping fee). I agree that Linux on Intel poses a threat to SUNW's dominance, especially once IA64 boxes come out. The "threat" to MSFT is less direct but still real: I don't think any current MSFT market share is much threatened by Linux, but MSFT has had it's eye on the lucrative Intel server market and while it was fumbling with the W2K release a strong (IMO) competitor emerged.
