ANECDOTAL INFO: I just got off of the phone with Dell, and my order that was place on Friday for two, top of the line Dimensions has been significantly delayed (in terms of delivery). If I stay with 256 ECC RAM, the orders will not ship for 51 days. If I change to 256 SDRAM, it is cut to 21 days. It is 16 days for 128 ECC RAM. I changed to 256 SDRAM (128 ain't gonna cut it). They say that the memory chips are hard to get, which explains the slow delivery. I have to wonder what this will do to DELL's quarter. I hate to admit it, but Niles may not be too far off. I would point out that this is not a "Dell" problem, but we all know how the market over-reacts to this. BTW, my 420 workstation, ordered with 256MB Rambus RDRAM will ship within a week.
