I say let's unite and prohibit "shorting" in general Do you realize what an amazingly short sighted statement this is? Shorting may seem complicated to simple folks like me, but when you boil it down it enables the trader to SELL stock on margin. So in the purest sense anytime you sell stock you are short. Without the opposite side of the coin, you cannot have open free markets. Do you really want that? Certainly regulations concerning this sort of activity are important, and they exist. Some of the longs have said it well... The short sellers allow the longs to get the stock at a better price. You are usually thinking in dangerous territory when you assume that a stocks poor performance is due to short interest and market makers. The truth is usually much less sinister than that. regards, cAPS
