No Rick-- that was not me,,, This is interesting--- I guess PALM availability is no longer a problem,, Great for Trac and good for PALM.. NEW YORK, Jan 26, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Track Data Corporation (Nasdaq NMS: TRAC) announced today that it will offer its myTrack members the opportunity to purchase a Palm Pilot VII for the discounted price of $299. The Palm Pilot VII retails for $499. By combining the lowered costs of bulk buying with a significant subsidy, Track Data is able to offer its myTrack members a far better price for the Palm VII than is normally available to consumers. "We think that subsidizing Palm VIIs is another value-added service for our current members and a great way to attract new members," said Barry Hertz, Track Data Chairman and CEO. Last week, Track Data announced that myTrack members can use their Palm VIIs to access the myTrack online trading system to obtain quotes, place trades, and check positions. "It's a natural fit," continued Hertz. "Our members use myTrack because it has a fully integrated trading screen with streaming real-time quotes and news. People who like that professional-style environment like to stay connected to the market and to their portfolios. With the Palm Pilot VII and its wireless access to myTrack, you're always connected." To access myTrack from a Palm Pilot VII, users can download the web clipping file at mytrack.com. The Palm Pilot VII is a product of 3Com Corporation (Nasdaq: COMS). Because of the anticipated demand for $299 Palm Pilot VIIs, Track Data is making them available only to myTrack members with trading accounts. Track Data will also be limiting the offer to one unit per household. Current myTrack members can request a Palm Pilot VII by sending an e-mail with their name and account number to palm@tdc.com. People who are not yet members can open a trading account by going to mytrack.com and clicking on the "Open a Trading Account" button. Track Data is also planning a promotion for the RIM Inter@ctive Pager, as soon as the Pager can access the myTrack system. Earlier this year, Track announced an agreement with Flextrader.com to develop a wireless trading platform for the RIM Inter@ctive pager. (See Track's 1/7/00 Press Release for further details.) |
