You are quite correct in stating that Platinum's pricing was all too often a give-away. However, a great deal has changed in that CA's DB2 products are being integrated with Platinum's--and the various product lines that Platinum acquired but did not integrate--to form a far better direct assault on BMC. Platinum tried and failed to stay alive on give-aways. CA is using competitive pricing to sell broader and deeper product than Platinum could or did.
