John - Re: "Maybe it's a good time for a little positive public relations. Come out with a clear, concise statement of where they are in capacity and meeting the demands of their customers. The hoops they are jumping through. When they feel they will be able to meet demand."

Intel said AT LEAST TWICE during Q499 that they were capacity constrained and could supply NO UPSIDE to the orders already on their books from their customers - but that they WOULD MEET the existing order rates.

They also issued a statement recently that they would be able to meet current customer requirements by the end of Q1/2000.

Don't forget - Gateway, IBM AND DELL cited Y2K lockdowns as a major part of their shortfall. I think Intel should not be held accountable for the Y2K issues - but others may disagree with me on that one.

Re: "Right now, they are everybody's whipping boy"

Not quite true - Intel is nearly ALWAYS everybody's whipping boy.
