Auric,

Don did not mention them by name but essentially said "round up the usual suspects" with momentum investors at the top of the list. Of course, discretion is paramount when it comes to clients but my experience has been that institutional sales people frequently give people up but make you take an oath of secrecy. Wall St Omerta I guess you could say.

The discussion with Don also turned to the story that hit NY Magazine a week and a half ago about wiz daytrader Kirk Kazazian. This 24-year old child prodigy started trading at a downtown branch of Tradescape Securites, a daytrader shop that was notorious for buying one of those outfits in Atlanta just before Barton went on his rampage. Boy wonder started off with about $22,000 18 to 20 months ago and was sitting on a cool $5.2 million as of a few weeks ago. He makes on average three trades a minute and was trading INCY furiously when the reporter popped in to interview him. When pressed on the subject Kirk was unable to identify the name of the company he was trading (he only knows hot tickers) although he knew they were in the biotech biz. Any day now the $170,000 powder blue Ferrari Mondial he put a deposit on should show up at the dealer and he is looking forward to taking delivery and probably plans on terrorizing the Hamptons all summer. No mention if he knows how to use a stick shift and forget about that heel and toe stuff.

Frankly I find that story amazing. I did not realize Ferrari's came in powder blue!

As far as the fund flows, Don did not have a power point slide on this and I can't be sure. I think his point was that there is an enormous amount of money sitting in money market funds right now, and when the slide starts some people will raise cash and park it there waiting for the smoke to clear. Ultimately he is very constructive on the market and expects these huge cash reserves to be put to work, but fully expects us to go thru hell for awhile.
