Softbank to set up online bank branch with Suruga
TOKYO, Jan 27 (Reuters) - Japan's Softbank Corp said on Thursday that it and Suruga Bank Ltd will set up an online bank branch this year.

Softbank also said it plans to float E*Trade Japan, an online brokerage joint venture with U.S.-based E*Trade Group Inc (NasdaqNM:EGRP - news), on the new Nasdaq Japan exchange in the third quarter, without specifying whether that was the third quarter of calendar 2000 or of the company's business year which starts in April.

Previously, Softbank had said it planned to list shares in the online brokerage during the third quarter of calendar 2000, without specifying on what exchange.

Softbank's Chief Financial Officer Yoshitaka Kitao said that he expects E*Trade Japan to post a net profit of 300 million yen for the year to March 2000.
