TD - who is Siebel's competition now that they are entering the e-commerce market? Are we just looking at a e-crm package or something much more? From statements I've read, and lots (!) of reading between the lines, I believe Tom has his sights on something much, much more than e-CRM. But exactly what I do not know.

If I am right.. lets give this some thought. They wouldn't directly compete against IBM's e-commerce offering. That would be sort of like biting the hand that is going to feed you. Bad relationship building material for sure! <g> So what will it be? And more importantly who will be the competitors in *that* arena.

I am starting to research b2b firms now. I believe you are very knowledgeable about this area and can provide LOTS of insight. Your thoughts?

I can say that this new move by Siebel has requickend my excitement about the firm. This will bring Siebel into a new tornado long before the CRM market plays itself out. AND (!) Siebel is doing this while she is riding strong in the CRM field. CRM can now be the cash cow while Tom prepares to launch into the future - and with IBM at his side.

One more thought... I got the feeling that Siebel was/is 'managing' their revenue recognition a bit. Did anyone else? I had heard blow out earnings - I mean HUGE numbers - and yes they WERE very good. But not quite as much as I expected (closer to 300 or a bit over actually). AND IBM was not in the sales listed. I wouldn't be surprised if Tom and company are going to do 'a Cisco' on us and manage revenue recognition etc.. in such a way that we seem to 'magically' beat the whisper by .02 everytime... Especially after a strong Q4 (historically the strongest) going into Q1 (can be rough at times).

I can't think of anything much more exciting... except of course I would love SEBL to announce a stock split, join the S&P500 (I understand they have not been added yet - true?) and the stock price to crack a hundred soon! <vbg!>
