I don't believe these patents to be trivial, nor do I think EDIG's partners think they are trivial. Intel had their own flash file management system but chose to work with e.DIGITAL's. I find this to be a very important event in the company's history and I'm sure many longs feel the same. I haven't questioned LU, IBM, Lanier, or TI on why they chose to work with us. I'll leave that to the folks who need to know what they don't own.

Yes, your Diamond Rio (soon to be defunct) handles file management just fine for one codec and no DRM. I wonder what would happen if it had to handle multiple codecs and multiple DRM's. LOL!

I think I can answer why the consumer would want something other than mp3 in their device... BECAUSE NONE OF THE MAJOR MUSIC LABELS WILL BE ENCODING THEIR MUSIC WITH THIS CODEC.
