"Spitfire and Thunderbird seem to be slightly behind schedule," according to the link that Pravin provided. See the bottom of this page:

The Spitfire (and Thunderbird) seem to be slightly behind schedule, and will probably be announced in June of this year, but won't really ship until around August, just like the Athlon in 1999. That makes the K6-2+ very important for AMD as it is the chip that is going to defend AMD's market-share in the low-end and mobile sectors.

Seems like while AMD is finding tremendous success in scaling the MHz ladder, their core enhancements aren't coming along as well. I'll quote again from MPR, "Room is something one should not leave for Intel."
