Yes, it's obvious that it can be used for vehicle recovery systems, particularly since the signal can be used when the vehicle is inside a building or under cover. Should be able to locate the vehicle in a chop shop. SnapTrack's website says it currently has privacy protection, so the GPS only works when it is turned on. This would indicate, therefore, that there would need to be a way for the system to turn on the GPS feature by remote in order to locate a vehicle. I guess that in a car security system, the GPS could be on all the time; it might need its own battery, however.
