Grislee and MA: I must respectfully disagree with this perception. Whereas 3COM does represent some value, it is absurd to pretend that it has GREATER value than PALM. 3COM is an example of a company that has repeatedly squandered opportunities in the face of competition. PALM is the ONLY saving grace. No matter how this guy from Fortune spins it, it is a bloody fact that were it not for the specter of the PALM IPO, 3COM would be trading at a multiple that would make utilities and retailers seem overvalued!!! EB and company still have to prove their effectiveness in rejuvenating other divisions of the company, and as the last few Q reports have shown, they are struggling. The argument that PALM represents somewhat of a distraction to 3COM from its core n/w divisions is ludicrous, and that a mere spinoff will cure all its ailments is an overly optimistic statement. In the parlance of mathematical proofs, I view it as being "necessary but not sufficient". Regards, Kunal
