Another view of the SK Telecom/NTT demonstration....This one give a date of Septemeber for a roll-out of 1xrtt by SK Telecom.

IMT-2000 Video Field Test Successful

SK Telecom announced Thursday that in conjunction with its Japanese
partner Docomo it had succeeded in its first IMT-2000 video test. Chairman
Cho Jang-nam said that a signal had been transmitted to Docomo in Japan at
a data speed of 128kbps using a non-assimilation IMT-2000 system. He
added that the partnership is concentrating on developing 384kbps
technology and will soon conduct a full-scale field test in the metropolitan
area. In September SK will introduce a CDMA-2000 mobile phone service
with a speed of 128kbps.

The government is planning to select domestic carriers by the end of the year
to commence services by 2002. To date SK, Korea Telecom (KT) the LG
group and Hanaro are bidding to offer the IMT-2000 service.
