re preserving wealth Having just lost 1/3 of mine in a few weeks, I welcome your post. I am thinking exactly that...how to keep the portfolio growing while ensuring "safety" for living expenses. I have not yet left my away-from-home job, but expect to in about a year and a half. The last week has been very sobering. Unfortunately it reminded me of my experience with DELL when it was beginning to stop growing. And I don't believe the association is accurate, since Qcom (my chief holding) is growing just fine. Wall St. has misinterpreted the earnings report. But preserving capital has still suddenly become something I'm thinking about more than I was on Jan 3rd! Freeus
