kash - <Do you see Intel's launch of its 866/933 parts this quarter as some have surmised>

I can't comment on this.

<This new paradigm of Intel launching with low to modest volumes will surely hurt Dell the most.>

I give you an anecdote: A program manager associated with either P858 or Coppermine on the manufacturing side asked me yesterday what the buzz was on the web and in the trade press. I told him that the supply situation looked really dry. He was surprised at this, and said the situation should have eased somewhat by now. I continued to indicate that there are all sorts of accusations and rumors flying about how the ramp must not be going smoothly, or .18 is having yield problems, or both. His only answer in a laugh was, "We are definitely supply constrained."

However, it should get better by the end of the Q. I know Otellini said this. However, forget that I know he said it, and it's just me responding. My firm opinion is that by the end of the Q, the supply situation will look much different than it does today. I don't know how it couldn't.

Kash, this is painful. If one reads my posts from a while back, I have indicated that Intel appears to be capacity constrained across the board. These things don't turn around overnight, which is painful.

I found it interesting the Mikey Dell is still publicly committed to remaining an Intel house. Maybe he knows something.
