Kash, Yes it is a sharp stick poked in Dells right eye and now they will try for the left one. Will they get Dell's attention? You bet they will. Dell is very dependant on those high margin high speed sales. It hurts Dell immeasurably to lose those sales to AMD boxes that are both faster as well as cheaper.....what I call a lose-lose situation for Dell.
If M. Dell has rocks in his head he will stay with Intel until the company's dying day....in the near future.
I suspect M Dell lacks rocks and will have a black AMD project underway right now to see how the Athlona compares to intel. I bet that black project group is getting a real shock. Cheaper and better, yes, both at once, and only from AMD.
The only problem is can AMD supply all these players at this time? or will Dell go to the end of the line.
