FOXSports.com to supply sports content to AltaVista

NEW YORK, Jan 27 (Reuters) - Online network AltaVista Co., a unit of Internet venture firm CMGI Inc. (NasdaqNM:CMGI - news) said Thursday that FOXSports.com will be the exclusive content provider for the AltaVista Live! Sports Channel.

Financial terms of the multi-year deal were not disclosed.

The new sports channel (http://sports.altavista.com) will feature national and regional news and information, including up-to-the-minute scores and statistics, game schedules and exclusive reports from FOXSports.com, an online arm of News Corp. Ltd's (NYSE:NWS -news) (Australia:NCP.AX - news) News Digital Media unit.

As part of the deal, AltaVista said it will promote the new sports channel throughout its network of services, including placement of FOXSports.com promotions on the AltaVista Live! homepage (http://live.av.com).

In December, more than 47 million unique users worldwide visited AltaVista's sites, the company said.

Palo Alto, Calif.-based AltaVista in December filed for an initial public offering to raise as much as $300 million.
