Hi edamo- You're right. My language was kinda vague. I'm referring to the idea that you should "add to winners and sell losers". In Oct., Nov., Dec., I kept buying Qcom, averageing up, purchasing stock as it rose. I bought calls and sold them, then rolled into a higher strike price. This worked really well. But then when the stock stalled, (she says with 20/20 hindsight) ideally I could have been selling- say some at 180, 170, 160, 140. Now I'm still holding calls that were very profitable at all these price levels, because I didn't know when to shift gears and sell. I guess I'm just trying to analyze what happened here, so that I don't repeat my mistakes-- and watching my account shrink from its Jan. 3 high to this extent qualifies as a serious mistake on my part. Hear you have an interesting experience with Dell- do share any great, coming-back-from- the-abyss type stories you may have! |
