Chief Investment Strategist of Gruntal & Co. Reveals Hot Sectors For Year 2000
Stockgroup.comSWEB Wall Street guru Joe Battipaglia of Gruntal & Co. joins smallcapcenter.com's Editor in Chief David Andelman on The 5 to 200 Show today discussing the hottest sectors investors should keep an eye on.
In a 15-minute interview, Joe Battipaglia tells listeners which stocks may be the next big things in over 10 sectors including biotechnology companies XOMA Ltd. XOMA , Lifecell Corp. LIFC and Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. NBIX .
"What's moving small cap stocks is the simple fact that these are the companies that are generating out-sized returns in term of earnings. They are making deals happen and a good deal of them are tied up in technology," says Battipaglia. "The environment for the last couple of years favors these companies."
"We are heavily weighted in technology, which is now a broad definition for telecommunication, semiconductors, fiber optic cabling and broadband," says Battipaglia. "As we deregulate industries, such as financial services or telecommunications, the demand for technology increases to provide even more services to the end user. It is has a multiplier effect both here and abroad."
One of Battipaglia's predictions revealed in the Webcast interview is that the Russell 2000 Index and the Nasdaq Composite Index will enjoy all of the action this year.
Battipaglia, a frequent guest on The Today Show, Bloomberg Television and CNBC, also warns why small cap companies in industries such as financial services may be in for a tough year ahead.<<<<<<<<<<
