The Europe/Middle East/Africa numbers were stunning. It seems that Ericsson is managing to more or less shut out Motorola, Lucent and Nortel from its core market. I think that the increasing tendency of operators to bundle network expansions with GPRS and/or WAP deals means that manufacturers not competitive in this area are going to face some issues.

China was a surprise - though it means there's a huge rebound potential there after the orders presumably pick up when China Telecom's reorganization is finalized. The consumer division remains a mess... I have a hard time reconciliating Ericsson's earlier hints of 10% margin during 4Q with the 5% they eventually delivered. They are getting wiped out in the Americas right now. And the WAP models seem to be delayed still further in Europe. Maybe Ericsson needs to reconsider the future of this division. They will fall behind Siemens
by the end of next winter if something doesn't happen.
