U S WEST and USURF America Inc. Form Strategic Alliance Key to
Nationwide Rollout of Wireless Internet Access Solution
Fri Jan 28 08:46:00 EST 2000

BATON ROUGE, Jan 28, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Consumers nationwide will
now be able to purchase high-speed wireless Internet access from USURF
America Inc. (AMEX:UAX), a leading provider of wireless Internet
access, thanks to a new alliance the company formed this week with U S
WEST. The alliance is key to USURF America's nationwide Wireless
Quick-Cell(TM) rollout, an initiative to provide Internet customers
with high-speed wireless Internet connections via national Quick-Cell
sites.

Together USURF America and U S WEST will provide USURF America
customers with wireless Internet access from strategically located
Quick-Cell sites. Customers will gain: 1) high-speed bandwidth at a
discount and 2) Internet access even if they live in remote locations
that lack local Internet Service Provider points of presence.

USURF America selected U S WEST because U S WEST high-speed Internet
services and network management services are critical to the successful
deployment of Quick-Cell sites throughout the country and because U S
WEST is geographically positioned to easily serve rural areas, which
may not have access to local Internet facilities.

"Our strategic alliance with U S WEST represents a significant step
forward for both USURF America and the wireless Internet industry as a
whole," said David Loflin, president of USURF America. "We expect this
relationship will provide a tremendous boost to the planned rollout of
our USURF Quick-Cell Wireless Internet Access systems."

U S WEST will provide USURF America with Frame Relay Service, Private
Line DS3 Corporate Backbone, Managed Data Services and access to radio
towers, or Quick-Cell sites so USURF America can offer high-speed
wireless Internet access to customers throughout the country.

USURF America will utilize U S WEST frame relay technology for the fast
transfer of bandwidth between Quick-Cell sites and to customers. And,
USURF America will use U S WEST Private Line DS3 as the corporate
backbone between the company's two main Quick-Cell sites in Baton
Rouge, LA and Boise, Idaho, which transfer data and reroute Internet
traffic. U S WEST will also support USURF America customer networks
with around-the-clock management to ensure reliability and security
through U S WEST Managed Data Services.

"We are pleased to help USURF America deploy wireless Internet services
nationally and to go beyond conventional services to bestow remote
customers with the Internet access that they wouldn't have otherwise,"
said Carol Stroeh, U S WEST Account Manager for USURF America.
