I couldn't confirm with my broker that a limit order takes the stock out of the Stock Lending Dept.

You can do two other things, one is tell your broker to place a no lending order on your account. THis could be problematical since the fine print in the brokerage agreement gives them the right.

Any stock in a cash account or designated as a type 1 (cash) can not be lent. That means anything in an IRA cannot be lent.
