Not to be argumentative but as I see it, investing is not a bet on anything, though it involves a degree of calculated risk. Investors evaluate the fundamentals of a company/sector and seek a return based on anticipated positive trends in the growth of a business. Traders look to make gains based on changes in market perception/valuation. Both are valid approaches towards making money, but should not be confused with each other. There's a world of difference.
