taxman, The volatility index might be a sign that we could be close to a rally point. Actually, i don't really how to read this index. Have not tried to analyze it.

I sense that uneasiness also -- much than i did in October. The collapse of QCOM is what caused the uneasiness in me, even though I did not hold any (although i bought in today).

When people lose confidence in their favorite, then they tend to feel the same way about their other holdings.

I am sticking to my biggest holding (JDSU)and i am still almost fully invested but no options or margin. To me that is like being in cash anyways when compared to options.

Taking a wait and see approach before adding more JDSU. I am confident that we will hit all time highs by the March 10 stock split or the April earnings but i want to be able to trade it in the meantime.
I do intend to add some more on Monday simply because i feel the S and P decision is near for JDSU or Veritas.

The hedge funds that went long yesterday afternoon (according to CNBC) probably covered and went short during the day---possibly covering again in the afternoon. They have actually caused real selling or a reluctance to buy.

good luck
