>> you are referring to a slide into homosexuality , am I mistaken?

Perhaps it's my take after only a cursory read of the context of the posts you were writing - so I mistook your inference. But yes, I was alluding to homosexuality. Let's see if I can remember what it was I was thinking when I impulsively wrote that responce.

I thought you implied females have the quality of being empathetic and that that is a uniquely feminine trait. I inferred then that men who had that quality to the degree that women do, in your estimation, would then be more feminine and thus less masculine.
In retrospect, and after reading your responce I don't beleive it's an either or problem.
For example:
Saying that men tend to have more baldness would not imply that a woman suffering from that plague is any less feminine.
I suppose it was the aspect of an emotion not being found in men that created the quandry for me (and too I was bored and had been on for a long time).
As for the slide toward homosexuality, I was curious what you thought since I believe myself to be empathetic and yet very hetrosexual. So, while it was not a bait to catch you in any way it was an implusive act to obtain clarity. And perhaps not the best opportunity to broach a conversation with someone I have never posted to.
Then again, mayby it was just that primal male insecurity that rears it's head every so often. <LG> (little grin)

As to whether men have it or not empathy, I think it's unfair to say that men don't. I think we do, but our ego's, peer pressure and ingrained genetics requires us to keep it concealed - for a variety of social maintenance and security oriented reasons. Now that's sexist :o)
