Matthew,
Thanks for posting your thoughts. I'm an active QCharts user. I've never picked up the phone to call Tech Support and in general never post here. However, there's no doubt that I have experienced QCharts issues on a regular basis since I started using the product many months ago.
I find generally the service to be reliable, and "good enough", most of the time. However there are a couple of areas that need attention:
- Canadian data is often plain inaccurate. In particular there are a lot of daily bars with "wild" data in them. Surely this could be refreshed on your servers, I'm positive that accurate historical data exists out there...
- Your load balancing works most of the time, but most of the time doesn't seem to be good enough for QFEED users. Some of my colleagues are QFeed / QCharts users, and "good enough" doesn't cut it very well when you are collecting data for use in a third party analytical application that can't "refresh" on the fly - such as Dynastore/Tradestation.
- Chart discrepancies happen all the time on US symbols. Just this afternoon I noted that on two servers, most charts I looked at were missing Wednesday's bar. Sure, you can work around it, but the point is reliability must increase or clients will seek other alternatives. Not everyone subscribes to my "good enough" philosophy anyways...
I communicate with a lot of QCharts users through the net during the trading day. When things are bad we are all asking if there have been problems. Perhaps QCharts users aren't as likely to pick up the phone than the others...?
In Quote.com's defense, I have noted fewer problems lately than the period between Sept and December. So I'm pleased to see a positive trend, no matter how rocky it would appear to be for some. I guess since I only follow major stocks and futures, with the exception of Canadian data, there are rarely issues that totally prevent me from being productive.
