Tri-Vision's Patented V-gis(tm) V-chip Uniquely Able to Handle
Changing Ratings Systems and Eliminates the Need for Recalls by
Television Manufacturers
Following US President Clinton's State of the Union Address last night, in which he called for cohesive ratings for TV programs, computer games, and the Internet, Tri-Vision International Ltd./Ltee restated the Company's commitment to assist television manufacturers ready their products to adapt to changes to the TV program ratings system through the incorporation of Tri-Vision's field upgradeable v-chip. The First Lady also recently urged industry players to implement a change to the various ratings systems.
``The nature of the Entertainment Industry is very complex,' stated Tri-Vision President and CEO, Najmul Siddiqui. ``Creating a cohesive rating system for these various mediums is a logical step in the right direction.'
``The FCC, in its ruling on the technical requirements for v-chip in March 1998, anticipated this eventuality and recommended that TV manufacturers incorporate v-chip technology that could handle multiple and changing ratings systems,' commented V-gis(TM) inventor Tim Collings. Collings added that when he invented his v-chip technology, he wanted to insure that V-gis(TM) would work anytime, anywhere with any rating system in any country and with any common language. Canada, for example, has ratings for both English and French languages.
``A change to the TV ratings system in the US will not be a concern for TV manufacturers, such as Sharp, that have already installed Tri-Vision's field upgradeable v-chip technology in their product offerings,' stated Toshinori Ikebe, Tri-Vision Director and Nichimen Corporation Executive. ``In this era of constant change, I would expect that television manufacturers will see the value of incorporating this innovative technology and will work quickly to make it available to their customers.'
Tri-Vision's V-gis(TM) v-chip technology provides a means of controlling the quality and content of television programming entering the home by either blocking or selecting television programs based on content.
