Re: Dale address this marketing issue during his interview with Doc Searls:

Yes he did! in the negative. He's going by word of mouth. I challenge you to go out tomorrow and ask everyday strangers about INPR and see what response you get. Then re-read what Dale Fuller said and think about what I'm suggesting; a simple straight forward campaign tag that everyone can understand and relate to immediately on sight and sound. That's how all the major success stories were developed.

If I say; "Where do you want to go today?" who do you think of? or who do you think of with; "The DOT IN DOT COM!" or "What can we build for you?" or "Be direct" or "Intel Inside" or "Where's the beef!" or "Have it your way" or "Two all beef patties, pickles, sausage etc" it even may make some salivate. Maybe it's market conditioning that INPR needs? But Keep It Simple straight to the point and recognizable.

And if Mr. Fuller wants to purpose an idea on where the money for the ads will come from just tell him to look at those empty buildings and see if maybe there is an advertiser who'd be willing to barter them (rent space) for ad fees and time. Mel Karmizen over at CBS has been doing that successfully with outdoor billboards, TV time and radio time among other things. He simply gets a small percentage in the future internet sight for years of ad time and campaigning. So Mr Fuller excuse of it cost too much is old hat. He needs to be more innovative and 'webvolutionize' his way of thinking <g>

I am no expert nor even a novice ad man so I imagine they can come up with an improved ideas to word of mouth?

How about something like:

"We are opening up the internet at Inprise" Or

"We are keeping the internet open" or

"Inprise today's open tools, tomorrows solutions" or

"Borland yesterday, Inprise today, Interbase tomorrow, OPEN FOREVER! Inprise solutions" call 1800 for all you enterprise solutions" or

"INPRISE FOREVER OPENING UP YOUR INTERNETWORKING SOLUTIONS"

"We made the internet interesting, we opened it up!"

"Yes we are open"

"Enterprise it!"
"Solve all your enterprise needs Inprise them!"
