<Hi: I am not very informed about AMD and have a few questions: Is flash increasingly important to them? Could Dresden be ramped up to supply flash? Is flash a better market for AMD to actually have good and defendable ASP's -- in other words, is AMD becoming a company we should buy for the flash as much as for their other products?>

I think that flash is becoming increasingly important to AMD in the sense that they are benefiting from increased revenue due to a cyclical uptrend in the flash industry. I am sure that Dresden could be ramped to produce flash but I think that AMD's plans are to use Dresden's Fab30 for processors and to relegate Austin's Fab25 to flash production. I remember reading speculation on this thread (I think maybe by Charles R., but I apologize to whoever it was if my memory is wrong) that AMD's flash business alone would justify their stock price (it was near 30 at the time) but I cannot corroborate that. Obviously today's uptrend and shortage can become tomorrows glut after everyone rushes to ramp capacity to meet the shortage but for the time being I think that flash is definitely a significant plus for AMD.
