I disagree with that statement completely Steve as I see it violating the integrity of the Word of God. If I understand you correctly, what you are saying is although man is " spiritually dead " to God he still has the ability to make a choice in his " deadness " to receive Christ. With that line of thinking, you have dead men choosing to come to a Holy God..........thats impossible. The " flesh " cannot make any right choice in "its dead position" . Please read Roman 8.
John 6:65
And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
The word " can " is defined as " ability ", therefore this verse clearly states that no man has the ability to come to Christ unless it has been granted by the Father. This harmonizes with predestination and election according to the Holy Scriptures.
What do you think this verse is saying Steve; ?
John 3:3, " John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
