I think your point is well-taken, and it reminds me of the discussion we had not long ago about hg. Bartiromo is a symbol who represents a concept for a large organization whose revenue depends on advertising, and whose advertising dollars depend on having an audience. When we criticize Bartiromo, we are criticizing the concept that she is selling. I wrote, did layout, photography, and sometimes helped edit my college paper. One thing that happened that offended me terribly was when the editor in chief spiked a story about a professor who was caught stealing maps and artwork from the library archives and selling it to dealers. He spiked the story because the professor was a friend of his, and the faculty advisor to the paper. I thought that was corrupt.

If a newspaper slants its stories and editorials to suit its advertisers and cronies, it's unethical. I think it's just as unethical for a television station to do so.
