CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 28, 2000--The Board of Directors of Convergys Corporation today elected James F. Orr as its new chairman, to replace Charles S. Mechem, Jr., who is retiring as chairman of Convergys at the Annual Meeting on April 25. Orr will continue to hold the titles of president and chief executive officer as well.
``I am personally very pleased and gratified that Jim Orr will be succeeding me as chairman of the board when I retire on April 25,' said Mechem. ``Jim is an outstanding and dedicated leader and he has been instrumental in building Convergys from the ground up. Prior to his role as Convergys' president and CEO, Orr served as chief operating officer and director of Cincinnati Bell Inc. At Cincinnati Bell, he was also president of CBIS and MATRIXX Marketing, the businesses that today make up Convergys. After significant growth as part of Cincinnati Bell Inc., Convergys was spun off as an independent, public company in 1998. Prior to joining Cincinnati Bell Inc., Orr had more than 20 years of domestic and international experience in sales and marketing with Procter & Gamble.
