Many tech companies routinely put the bottom 5 or 10 % of their work force under probation and lay them off if their performance doesn't improve. I'm trying to determine if this was primarily warehouse staff... seems I read that somewhere but of course I can't find it now. There really isn't anything you can do with warehouse people once the holidays are over. What I don't get is why they need so many bodies in the warehouse working - it should be fully automated like the ones I am familiar with. Maybe toys requires manual pick/pack/ship... ?. My company is moving a homogeneous product through an automated warehouse with almost no staff... books should be like that, toys... I don't know.
