Your questions re browsers

Re Displays -
ultra high resolution, full colour miniature displays have been available in prototype form for at least 2 years (I've been working with them). They are extremely impressive. A web page is
perfectly readable on a 2.5 inch screen.
(try this experiment. Sit about 3 feet away from your monitor. You can still read, right. Now frame the screen with your fingers. What is the size of the frame?)

re memory -
memory is a factor in 'phones, but not PDA's.

The real problem -
Bandwidth of the underlying, presumably wireless, link.
Packet data services are likely to remain relatively expensive because of bandwidth limitations. Hence the development of WAP and web-clipping to maximise the utility of a limited resource.

The browser, per se, is independent of this problem.
