Good post. Your observations are on target. Vertical business applications verses platforms. I didn't know that SAP has partnered with MSFT. This is indeed bad news for ORCL. Independents will begin to threaten within a year or so, as soon as MSFT gets all the transaction, merchant, and database object support out the door.

INFX will go down soon. ORCL, maybe two years later. No wonder Ellison is running around with his head cut off.

I think the highend and lowend solutions will fuse, however.
