Lizzie I am not sure how many msft employees are willing to excercise when it's low, and thus "buy" and hold till higher price, v. cashless excercise & sell transaction when the stock is already high.

It's one thing to not want to pay income taxes on the options; it's quite another thing altogether to be willing to tie up significant amts of one's own $$ to excercise and hold it, making a bet that it will go higher, to save some incremental amt of taxes.
