"how on earth is suncom going to sell a hard drive less computer when a PC is $250? <g>"
Hi Twister,
I just bought a "Netpliance" from Austin Texas for an older citizen who wanted to go on the internet but was computer phobic. It's great: flat screen, keyboard and mouse -- that's it.
Now they can get e-mail, go on the web, special buttons for weather, entertainment, news etc., (which they find a significant enough learning task), without have to learn about booting up the system, saving files, loading programs, and crashes. It only cost $199 with $21 for internet access. It's a great beginning for an internet device that is free from the PC model which for many is VERY confusing.
For many people who want internet access, the PC is simply a swiss army knife when a can-opener is the trick.
All the best, Michael |
