Hi elmer: Your comment here sorta reminds me of most of the Intellabee comments around the Athlon motherboard problems last August and September. AMD's current stated objective is achieving 30%, compared to their current 17% share, of the microprocessor market by the end of 2001. Workstation and server gains will come in 2001 and beyond, once incremental market share gains level off and additional sources of revenue growth are required! AMD has been very successful with their rollout of the Athlon to date by taking it one step at a time...No need to call 911 concerning this rumour...With the prospect of exponential growth in Athlon sales over the foreseeable future (i.e 1 to 2 years) much time remains to address any hurdles impeding entrance to Intel's last protected segment in the microprocessor marketplace... Be patient, elmer...No need to rush...We've seen the demonstration of negative effects that can occur when one rushes into new areas by watching Intel's costly and for the most part unproductive attempts at sprucing up the PWeeIII!
