ole 49r: I don't doubt your conclusions about Mr. Greenspan, especially if you've heard from the "horse's mouth." If you are ever in a position to rebut, I wish you remind him: it is not the Fed's role or duty to "manage stock market valuations." As an old advocate of the free market, why does he now question the wisdom of the stock market? Personally, I agree with you that we should all expect a few 25 bp rises -- maybe 50 bp this coming week. I'm sure that will have its intended effect on the "old economy." But interest rates don't impact (at least very directly) the Microsofts, Intels, and Cisco's of this world (no debt and a cost of capital tied to extremely high P/E ratios). I expect a major correction in the internets -- and I don't doubt that many highfliers will crash and burn along the way -- but the new paradigm will not be denied... by the old industrials, the Fed or any of the other regulators who look with envy upon the New Economy. JMHO. And intermediate to long term, CMGI will grow and prosper as DW's vision of the New Economy comes to fruition. -- Pete
