What happened to Alexander's daughter is shameful and wicked by her account.
There is also remarkable goodness and caring among people in the healthcare field
and I am sorry that Alexander has not seen more of it. <<

Edwarda,

My personal experience with a nursing home was generally good, however, I did see abuses and "benign neglect". I also witnessed the quality of care seemed to be comensurate with the degree of involvement of the family members. The more involved the family the better the care was. I was extremely proactive when it came to the medical care that was given to my mother and I think that made a difference. I regularly reviewed my mothers charts and studied the nurses daily notes in order to maintain a better grasp on the care she was receiving. Short off installing video cameras in resident's rooms, that's about the best you can do. Financial rewards help, too.
