A quick look at this fast growing field of direct sales software reveals several other players: 2Order - acquired by PKSI Aurum - acquired by BAANF CLIC Cincom - Private Exactium - Private Firepond - FIRE (Pre-IPO) Newtonian - acquired by CLFY - being acquired by NT ORCL Proscape - Private SLGX Selectica - SLTC (Pre-IPO) SEBL Softad - Private Trilogy - Private I may have missed a player or two. From the direct plays, CLIC and FIRE seem the most promising to me (customer base, expansion of product lines, etc). The main questions are what will ORCL and SEBL do in their efforts to dominate this field, and what will other players in the B2B space do in their efforts to enter this field? For example - I expect E-procurement software makers (such as ARBA, CMRC, etc) to enter this space, as the final goal for everyone is the integration of direct sales and E-procurement ("machines talking to machines"). I expect more consolidation in this field within the next few months. Time will tell.
