EricksList: Jan 2000 has been posted:

OK everybody, next week is a pain in the neck so I'll post what I have through Sunday night. I've changed a couple of things from when we discussed this earlier...

1> I'm not posting the actual list here. It's getting big. I've started a companion thread, "Gorilla and King lists" (http://www.siliconinvestor.com/subject.aspx?subjectid=33114) that will hold the lists, and I'll just post the notification here.

2> Clicking on the links in the message should open up a new window and bring up the post, so you won't lose your place.

3> I've taken out the section ordered by message number.

4> SI permitting, what I intend to do is accumulate lists for a quarter, then start over. So, this first list will be contained in the next one, with Feb added. March's list will contain all three months. April's list will be only the month of April.

Other "favorite" lists are welcome. I can't, of course, control what gets posted, but please restrict yourselves to *very* occasionally posting over on the companion thread. Its value decreases if there are hundreds of posts over there. I'll be glad to moderate additions to the list thread if asked.

Many thanks to all those who posted here on the G&K thread. Any errors are the responsibility of the editor <G>. Thanks also to those folks who are putting summary lines in their posts. That helps considerably.

Please PM me any suggestions, corrections, etc.

Uncle Frank: Were you ever a teacher? Starting your own thread would be good for me <G>....

About the discussion we were having a while ago about diversification... I ran across this quote from Buffett on another board and thought it applied, especially the part about "swinging from the heels"...

When Byrne was 13, Buffett told him to think of
himself at home plate, waiting for a pitch. "There was no one calling balls and strikes, and I could take as many pitches as I wanted," recalls Byrne, who got to know Buffett because his father was a colleague and friend of the legendary investor's. Buffett's advice was simple: "Every year or two, the perfect pitch comes along, and you swing from the heels." But few people have the courage to do that, Buffett explained. "Most people just try to bunt."
