i asked a question: why is this chinese province having a gsm network built if it is internationally accepted that the state of the art is cdma? your response, and that of marginmike, is that they will migrate to cdma. that doesn't answer the question. i think it could be a straw in the wind worth investigating - and i will. my first step was asking on this forum, where we share our data and opinions - and all of us come away richer (in information, if not money, in the pleasure of discussing and sharing, if not in money, and sometimes in money).
you properly put in caps "WHEN operators using gsm migrate".
suppose that WHEN is 5 years from now because they all want to avoid paying Q royalties and because they can get away with delivering the customer the lesser technology. this chinese decision may be nothing, a minor anomaly - but, again, i'll find out - and i'll be looking to see whether there are other such decisions, because at a p/e ratio in the hundreds and at 17 times SALES, i can't afford to sit around and cheer the past 12 months. that there are others who agree with me is indicated by the drop from 200 to 110.
doesn't it strike you as odd that the chinese province made this decision? doesn't it strike you that it must be more costly to migrate from gsm to cdma rather than to build it now. maybe the cost is vastly less to use gsm. maybe to meet that problem Q has to reduce their royalty charges.
what good does it do you or marginmike to insist on not wanting to permit someone even to ask?
then, at the end of your post, you write "so ..." as if you had answered the holes i found in marginmike's comments, such as words to this effect: "what company is growing at the rate of 50% YOY for the next 5 years". does that sentence make sense to you? it doesn't even parse. do you know of any company or any thing that is NOW growing at some rate 5 years from now?
as far as "attacking someone who demonstrates ..." i didn't attack marginmike, i responded to his attack. if you're that interested, look at my post and his. i responded to another post about a company with 25-35% growth, and said there were others at lower p/e's (unassailably true) and i posed my chinese question. period. then marginmike came in with guns blazing. starting with "you haven't a clue ..."
nice guy.
